My first grandchild, Renee, would always ask me to read her a bedtime story. I would get a book by Dr. Seuss, called Green Eggs and Ham, and I would try to read it to her.
When she got to be about seven years old, she noticed that I was guessing at the words. She would help me read the words.
Recently, Renee graduated from high school. I went to visit her and for the very first time I was able to read to her and my other four grandchildren, without guessing. They were all very proud that Grandpa finally read to them. And I was very proud of myself.
